The Village of Hempstead recently hosted its annual “Power of Pink” program in Kennedy Park. This event is part of the Village’s ongoing initiative to help those struggling with breast cancer and recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October.
The “Power of Pink” program raised awareness surrounding the ongoing struggles of breast cancer survivors, remembered those who lost their lives to this disease and supported women in need who are currently fighting breast cancer. During the event medical professionals spoke about the importance of early detection and how community members can get screened for breast cancer. Breast cancer survivors shared their histories and experiences with the community and residents learned vital breast cancer information and supported work toward finding a cure. The Village also provided support and information for people already living with the disease.
