Seat belts save lives every day. Wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of a fatal injury by 45%. In an effort to increase motorist safety, the Incorporated Village of Hempstead Police Department will participate in the Buckle up New York, Click it or Ticket campaign. The program is sponsored by the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and is a state-wide program to increase the safety of all motorists and passengers. All drivers and passengers are required by law to wear seat-belts or utilize child safety seats when required. Hempstead Police Department enforcement patrols will be enhanced beginning May 22, 2023, through June 4, 2023, to promote the safety of all motorists and passengers.
