HEMPSTEAD, NY, OCTOBER 4, 2017 – The Village of Hempstead is teaming up with the Hempstead Hispanic Civic Association by holding a hurricane relief collection drive to benefit the residents of Puerto Rico.
Among the items most in need are bottled water, non-perishable food items, hygiene essentials, toiletries and mosquito repellent. Donations can be dropped off at Village Hall at 99 Nichols Court, Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. or at the Hempstead Hispanic Civic Association office, located at 236 Main Street, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Hempstead Village has one of the largest populations of Hispanics on Long Island, many with deep roots to the Puerto Rican community,” said Mayor Don Ryan. “We’re pleased to partner with the Hempstead Hispanic Civic Association to support this collection drive and expect our residents will respond in kind to help those in need who have been devastated by the recent hurricanes and are struggling with what has become a full-blown humanitarian crisis.”
